January 9th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Most people can recognize the sacrifices and risks that come with the job when officers put their life on the line every day. However, we often fail to realize that their families and friends also make sacrifices and can feel isolated in their workplaces. All too frequently, it goes un-notice that individuals are friends and spouses of law enforcement until tragedy happens.  In this seminar, we are going to discuss increasing awareness and emotional support for family of law enforcement.  We will cover the most common issues that they have to face and how best Human Resources and counselors can address the needs and the concerns.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the main issues and concerns of families and friends of law enforcement
  • Most common clinical themes in therapy
  • Key ways to support them in the workplace and in therapy
