Our children are starting involvement with alcohol and drugs at an alarming young age. Substance abuse in our young people is a problem that is affecting individuals, families and ultimately the workplace. In this seminar, we will look at the impact and effects of substances abuse, explore signs and symptoms and strategies for prevention.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the impact of substance abuse on the young

Review the signs and symptoms of substance abuse

Explore the strategies for prevention with peers, families, and social media

Josuel GoodenJosuel Gooden received his Bachelors of Art Degree from the University of Southern California. He served 32 years with the Los Angeles Police Department in a variety of units including Patrol, Narcotics, Gang Unit, and as instructor for Drug Abuse Resistance Educations (D.A.R.E.) and Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC). Additionally, he developed curriculum for both D.A.R.E. and the EVOC programs. As an instructor, Mr. Gooden has been a speaker and instructor in Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, and Parent Programs and in National and International Conferences. He has presented throughout the United States, Germany, Japan, Canada, Israel, Russia, Barbados and Mexico. Mr. Gooden was president of the National D.A.R.E. Officers Association with other 50,000 members worldwide and a $5 million dollar operating budget.
