“The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Peer Support
  and Employee Assistance Program.”
presented by Dr. Steve Froehlich and Captain Scott Ross.

January 24, 2014

Please join us for a very informative program on The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Peer Support and Employee Assistance Program.”  Therapists and EAP’s will want to attend to understand the needs of our firefighters and their families as they risk their lives to serve others.  Our presenters will be Dr. Steve Froehlich and Captain Scott Ross.

The presentation will describe the County Fire Department (size and scope of the personnel and the geography involved).  We will discuss the history of the program as well as its mission.  The basic principles of Psychological First Aid will be discussed as it applies to the Team’s recent deployment to Arizona after the tragic loss of the 19 hotshot wildland firefighters, June 30, 2013.
Participants will gain a greater understanding for the types of incidents firefighters respond to, and the different types of stressors they experience.  Challenges facing  firefighter families will also be addressed as they may seek support from therapists or their own EAP services.
