Autism in the Workplace: Helping Adults and Their Families

Please join us for a timely and informative presentation on Autism in the Workplace on Friday, October 26, 2012. Join us for pastries, coffee and networking from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Our speakers present from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Our location is Insight Treatment Center located at 14156 Magnolia Blvd Suite 101 Sherman Oaks, CA 91423.

Our learning objectives for this presentation are:

  • Participants will get information about autism, its manifestations and how it is different from High Frequency disabilities such as Intellectual Disability and Learning Disability
  • Learn about “People Language First”
  • Distinguish between soft and hard skills in the workplace
  • Create a plan of action with diverse strategies to support persons with autism in the workplace

Our presenter is Sherna Pinnock from Villa Esperanza Services.  Sherna has been with Villa Esperanza since 2003 as a lead teacher and curriculum specialist.  She has worked in the field of Special Education since 1977. Villa Esperanza Services is a non-profit organization devoted to the care and education of a diverse disabled population of children, adults, and seniors.  Villa’s programs are located in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties and are comprised of a multiple programs including community integration program, employment services and independent living skills programs.
